Montserrat is a multi peak mountain near Barcelona, in Catalonia. It is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range. The main peaks are Sant Jeroni Montgrós and Miranda de les Agulles. Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary.Was designated as a National Park in 1987.
Montserrat means "saw a mountain" in Catalan. It describes its peculiar aspect with multitude of rock formations which are visible from a great distance. The mountain is composed of strikingly pink conglomerate, a form of sedimentary rock.

The climate is temperate, with mild temperatures and moderate rainfall throughout the year. In the highlands the winters are cold with lots of snow, making them ideal ski-resorts.

More than one dozen airlines operate from this airport, covering national as well as international routes. The Reus Airport has bus shuttles connecting with Reus, Tarragona, Valls, Cambrils, La Pineda and Salou. It also offers taxi and rent-a-car services. Or you can arrive at Barcelona Airport, operated by intercontinental, international and national airlines, is 80 km away from the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). Barcelona Airport has buses with a direct connection with Tarragona, El Vendrell, Calafell and Barcelona. It also offers taxi services and car rentals.
There are many fine beach areas on the Costa Dorada; the area north of Mont-Roig Cunit has wide beaches. Whereas Vandellos, L'Ametlla de Mar and L'Ampolla, have relatively narrow beaches, hemmed in by nearby mountains.
The Ebro delta has long, wide beaches and fine sand. Between the Ebro and Les Cases d'Alcanar, there are a number of very long, very clean, sandy beaches.

Moving around the Costa Daurada is very easy. You can choose the best option for you:
By car, you have two freeways that cross the Costa Dorada. These are the AP-7 and the AP-2. The first, the AP-7, also known as the Autopista del Mediterráneo, runs from La Junquera to Alicante, while the northern motorway connects the Basque Country with Barcelona via Tarragona.
There are also other routes crossing the Costa Dorada, such as the A7 motorway, which is under construction and covers only a few stretches, such as from Torredembarra to Hospitalet de l'Infant. As far as roads are concerned, the most important to take into account is the N-340 connecting Girona with the Spanish Levante, following the coastline.
By Bus, the company Bus Plana is one of the companies offering most connecting lines between the state capitals and the Costa Dorada.
By Train, The Costa Daurada has a High-Speed Train station. It is the Camp de Tarragona station, with a stop for AVE and Altaria trains and communicated by bus with Tarragona and also with a taxi stop.
