The airport is located 10km northwest of the centre of the city. It started to be an aerodrome back when it was founded in 1914 and it was responsible for the first flight between the Spanish peninsula and Morocco, as well as a training ground for Air Force pilots. Since its inauguration, this airport has been through some important renovations, alongside the installation of new equipment.
